Coach Dan Prete has over 30 years of coaching experience. He has currently coached and developed 58 Division I scholarship athletes and 7 NBA players: Kevin Durant, Justin Robinson, Justin Anderson, Terrence Ross, Ishmail Wainright, Greivis Vasquez, and Linas Kleiza.
Coach Prete has 30 years of summer camp experience. In the summer of 2013 he traveled to Casablanca, Morocco as a representative for Nike to assist with the TIBU Basketball Camp. In the spring of 2019 he traveled to Brazil with PFS Sports running camps in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasilia.
For the 2021-2022 season the Bishop Walsh Boys Varsity Basketball team competed in the first ever season of the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (NIBC). They continued to be part of the NIBC for the 2022-2023 season.
During his time as the Associate Head Coach at Montrose Christian, they were Nationally ranked for all 12 seasons, were the 2010-2011 ESPN National High School Basketball Champions, and were ranked #1 in the Washington Post High School rankings in 2003, 2006, 2009, and 2011.
As the Head Boys' Varsity Basketball Coach at Saint James, they were the 2013 Sleepy Thompson Champions, 2014 and 2016 IPSL Champions, and the 2014, 2016 and 2018 Mid-Atlantic Conference Champions. Coach Prete was The Herald-Mail's 2015-2016 Washington County Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.
